Job Summary 
The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen.
This role includes helping maintain food quality, managing staff, and ensuring hygiene and safety standards are upheld.
The candidate will be expected to work with the Head Chef to prepare menus, manage resources, and help deliver excellent dining experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities 
- Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and presenting dishes to required standards.
 - Take charge of kitchen operations during the Head Chef's absence.
 - Supervise and guide kitchen staff (cooks, prep staff, etc.), including training and performance evaluation.
 - Ensure consistency in food quality, flavor, style, and presentation.
 - Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, manage stock, minimizing waste.
 - Enforce hygiene, safety, sanitation, and health regulations (e.g. HACCP, local food safety laws).
 - Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities.
 - Assist in cost control: monitor food costs, portion control, labor costs.
 - Assist in menu development, seasonal menu changes, special event menus.
 - Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
 - Help with scheduling and shift planning for kitchen staff.
  
Qualifications & Skills 
- Culinary diploma or certificate preferred (but not always required if candidate shows strong experience).
 - Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a kitchen environment; prior Sous Chef or strong assistant cook experience an advantage.
 - Good knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, food preparation, and presentation.
 - Strong leadership skills; ability to supervise and motivate kitchen team.
 - Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
 - Understanding of food safety and sanitation (HACCP experience is a plus).
 - Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
 - Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic useful but not essential.
 - Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  
Working Conditions 
- Full-time role.
 - Hours may vary; include early mornings, evenings, weekends.
 - On-site in restaurant/hotel kitchen.
 - May involve physically demanding tasks (standing for long periods, lifting, etc.).
