Description:
Serves as a general practitioner in the Medical Ward department, diagnoses and treats patients for diseases and disabilities; directs preventive care of patients according to approved procedures which are part of an integrated program of curative and preventive services.
Responsibilities:Provides comprehensive and diligent urological care to patients (in OPD & IP), including pre- and post-operative care and such urological procedures as are within incumbent’s competence.
To perform the professional duties of a General Practitioner in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the credential committee.
Takes Medical ward rounds with consultation/referring Doctors and Carries out their order.
Determines which cases constitute an emergency, extends rapid treatment to the patient as needed, makes quick decisions, and chooses the correct consultant for necessary additional guidance.
Upon request examines in-patients on wards/ICU, rendering immediate judgment and treatment if necessary.
Advises nursing personnel regarding medical problems; responds to radio-telephone calls from remote areas requesting medical advice; occasionally must go on emergency ambulance trips or otherwise use good judgment in responding to bona fide outside emergencies.
Completes all medical records and case histories promptly, indicating thereon the diagnosis and treatment given. Is responsible for the medical accuracy, completeness and confidential nature of patients’ medical records.
Provides health counseling of patients as needed.
Attends professional and hospital meetings as directed by the HOD. Occasionally prepares cases for presentation at ward rounds and staff meetings.
Provides on-call ICU coverage.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of ICU.
Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Head of Department
Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
Strictly adheres to organization’s regulations and policies especially those related to Infection control, patient safety, EHSMS, HAAD, JCI and ISO.
Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service.
Participates and contributes in scheduled in-service training programs like ACLS, BLS, CNEs, CMEs, In house activities, conferences or other programs as requested.
Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates and Management.
Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systemsQualificationsGraduation from an approved Medical School
1 year of Internship
2 year residency training in a recognized residency training program.Years of experience as a General Practitioner.Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
ACLS or ATLS certification is beneficial.
