Description
The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to join this new initiative focus on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use.
The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modeling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. CENTMED offers multidisciplinary training with a high degree of academic freedom among various high-impact translational projects. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students, ensuring the candidate learns valuable skills in writing manuscripts and grant proposals, advising fellow researchers, and establishing collaborations across disciplines.
Applicants must have a in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a relevant field. The designated research project is the design and implementation of a watch-type wearable blood pressure monitoring system using ECG and PPG (or bio-impedance).
The ideal candidate is required to have the following expertise:
-Mastery of all the design and validation procedures for CMOS integrated circuits
-Biomedical (preferred), analog, and/or power management circuits
-Embedded programming of microcontroller with Bluetooth Low Energy
-PCB board design (Altium or Allegro)
In addition, the candidate with experience on the following will be preferred:
-Experiences in the design and implementation of wearable devices
