A veterinarian is currently needed to join our team. The incumbent’s main responsibilities will include providing veterinary health treatment to animals as well as offering guidance on animal care and maintenance. He or she will also keep an eye on animal health and well-being in accordance with animal welfare rules.
Qualifications:Performs high-quality sterilizing surgery for adopted animal population management in a fast-paced shelter environment. Routine veterinarian care includes triage, physical exams, emergency medical care, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of sick and injured animals, minor surgery, vaccines, and testing.
Ability to get animal records from employees, enter dispositions into a computer, and prepare monthly and weekly reports in accordance with established guidelines.
Successfully completes physical exams, diagnostic treatments, and surgical, and dental procedures. Clients are given information about their pets’ diagnoses, treatment plans, preventive health care, and dietary needs.
In order to develop partnerships, gathers a lot of information from clients and listen to and understand their concerns and needs.
Ability to obtain and regulate euthanasia drugs and equipment, as well as ensure proper supply and equipment usage in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations and legislation Ability to stay up to date on current animal shelter trends and developments.
Oversight of research and teaching animals’ care and use, including a veterinarian care and preventative medicine program..
Vaccinates all animals not currently vaccinated against rabies prior to release when vaccination is suitable and certifies all animals released from quarantine observation as rabies-free. Provides information to animal bite victims, including the proper steps to follow to ensure their personal safety.
Written medical treatment protocols are established and implemented. Ability to decipher animal control ordinances, legislation, rules, and regulations, as well as city policies. Able to respond to questions from the general public and city officials Assist in resolving issues quickly and effectively.
Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and ensures that all required logs are kept current in accordance with approved guidelines.
Animal husbandry, humane animal handling, sanitation and disease management, basic animal behavior, medical care, surgical support (both intake and discharge), and animal first aid are all covered in employee training. Assists in the euthanasia of animals by providing injection instruction, evaluation, and execution. Examines the seized animals and, if sick or damaged, orders their euthanasia.Skills:An AVMA-accredited veterinary school requires a DVM, VMD, or comparable degree.
It is necessary to have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Possess (or receive) a Federal DEA license and registration for restricted substances.
Knowledge of MedARKs, ZIMS, and other medical record-keeping systems.
